Loeb: The weather will do a lot in Argentina

Even before starting the rally, the eight-time world champion admitted that the starting order will be decisive in Argentina. The weather, changing rapidly in this region of the globe, could well ruin the entire strategy of some and benefit that of others. And traditionally on land, crews prefer to start at the back of the pack. But if the rain gets involved, the choice already proves to be much more difficult. Already in Portugal, Ford and Citroën had chosen two opposing strategies. Loeb expects an identical scenario next weekend.

“Choosing your order of passage will be a headache”, admits the eight-time world champion. “However, it will be even more important in Argentina than in Portugal. During the last rally, the starting order was valid for the 35 kilometers of the first day. Here we will choose our order to travel more than 200 kilometers on Friday! If it rains, we will have to be in front to avoid being trapped by the mud. Otherwise, the ideal would be to start around 15th position. After Portugal, I was obviously disappointed. I am determined to return to victory, especially on this rally, because there is a unique atmosphere there. »
