Loeb masters the opening

It has become a habit for the Citroën crew. Sebastian Loeb and Daniel Elena, leaders of the world championship, are the openers on Friday. And, each time, the C4 inaugurates the timed segments. In Sardinia, this is far from being a gift for Loeb, who had to “sweep” the track in the first three stages: “ The roads were very slippery. We had to brake very early because there was very little grip. » However, the Frenchman believes that the morning could have been more complicated: “ We expected a more difficult start to the race. We are currently in second position. I have a good feeling with the car. »

The second loop, which is a repetition of the morning exercise, promises to be just as complicated: “ We still risk sweeping during the second pass. I attack, I try to go as quickly as possible to lose a minimum of time but I also know that we will not have to occupy the same position at the start of the second day. »

For the moment, the Loeb-Elena crew occupies second place overall, almost fifteen seconds behind Mikko Hirvonen, who was able to do well. For Citroën, this Friday must first make it possible to limit the damage. And, as is often the case, the five-time world champion will hit the gas on the second day to catch up.
