Loeb: “No more options were available to me”

After having played his entire career within the PSA brands, Sébastien Loeb will join the Hyundai clan pour disputer un programme partiel avec Hyundai.

The nine-time champion WRC found himself back against the wall following the end of the training program Peugeot in World RX even if he still competed in a few rounds of the World Rally Championship with Citroën. However, the Chevrons manufacturer will not be able to enter more than 2 cars next year following the withdrawal of partner Abu Dhabi.

When passion (re)takes over reason... After the decision of @peugeotsportofficial to withdraw from @fiaworldrx and the withdrawal of a major sponsor from @citroenracing not allowing them to field a 3rd car in @officialwrc, no more options were available to me with the PSA group and I therefore had to quickly bounce back to stay in the race! ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ It was out of the question for me to retire from sports and my thirst for victory and new challenges was still intact, I could not refuse the proposal from @hmsgofficial, with 6 rounds in WRC in 2019 and perhaps other equally exciting challenges to come! ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ Their project appealed to me, with a team and a car which will allow me, I am certain, to be able to fight at the front and try to get an 80th victory in WRC with @danos_elena! ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ It is with immense emotion that I had to say goodbye to all the Citroën Racing and Peugeot Sport teams with whom I built my career and thanks to whom, I became the pilot and the man I am today. ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ And finally thank you all for always being so numerous and faithful in giving Daniel and me so much affection and support! ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ Stay tuned, I will tell you more in my next column on the events of recent weeks, the reasons for this choice and the months to come! ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ Seb.
