Loeb wins Rally Turkey

Sébastien Loeb (Citroen C4 WRC) was therefore right to widen the largest possible gap on Saturday, at the top of the Rally of Türkiye, between him and his pursuers. This Sunday, the cancellation of two special stages and the presence of mud on the course reinforced the position of the Frenchman, who could not suffer from sweeping and who even took advantage of this position to ride on roads without ruts.

The six-time World Champion finished almost a minute ahead of Petter Solberg (Citroën C4 WRC) and 1:43?? on Mikko Hirvonen (Ford Focus WRC), third despite his puncture at the start of the day. Victim of the same incident on Saturday, Sébastien Ogier (Citroën C4 WRC) finished fourth ahead of his teammate, Kimi Räikkönen (Citroën C4 WRC).

« It's a very good rally, a very nice victory, I'm happy to win, confides Sébastien Loeb. Conditions were changing, we had to make the right choices. I was able to maintain my position despite these difficult conditions. There was a lot of mud. But the rally was also very fast. It was difficult and I had some great fights with Hirvonen, Solberg, and also Ogier at the start of the weekend. »

Precisely, Sébastien Ogier, although he was in the lead for a long time, finished in fourth place, a place that was both disappointing and satisfying. “ It was a good weekend for us, I am very happy with the car and my driving. I was able to fight with the best. It?s not a perfect weekend but hey, it?s rallying. Confidence is increasing, I hope to continue on this path. We can now fight for the podium on all rallies. »

Another Citroën driver, Dani Sordo had to retire on this last day, victim of a broken triangle. The Spaniard, disappointed on a personal level, also deprived his team of precious points for the manufacturers' classification.
