M-Sport launches Ford Fiesta Rally4

M-Sport has unveiled its new Ford Fiesta Rally4, the first car approved for the new pyramid set up by the FIA. Corresponding to the current R2 category, the blue oval mount is therefore equipped with a 2-wheel drive transmission whose development is based on the Fiesta R2.

“The Ford Fiesta Rally4 is an exciting car that we look forward to seeing in what we see as the most competitive category in rally », comments Maciej Woda, representative of M-Sport Poland.

“The popularity of the Fiesta R2 and its successes have allowed M-Sport Poland to achieve numerous developments in a short space of time. This is thanks to the relationships and constant communication with our customers from the moment their cars were delivered. With so many cars distributed and kilometers covered, our engineers located in Krakow were able to quickly establish a development strategy with feedback from our panel of drivers. »

M-Sport Poland engineers focused their efforts on grip, power and speed. The 999cc EcoBoost engine has been optimized to reach 210hp and a torque of 315Nm. The gear ratio has been revised as has the behavior. The suspension has been strengthened and the weight reduced at the exhaust level. The cooling system will also be more efficient with new air inlets providing a more aggressive design.

“M-Sport and Ford have always been at the forefront of all new developments in the sport and we develop our products with the aim of being cost efficient., adds M-Sport director Malcolm Wilson. As the FIA rally pyramid becomes clearer, we plan to have a car entered at each level, from entry to performance, for those who wish to climb it. »

The Ford Fiesta R2 shone last year with 4 victories in 5 entries in the ERC3 category. In just one year, M-Sport delivered 110 models worldwide. The Fiesta R2 will be able to get a Rally4 kit. The 2020 model will be available from April 1.
