Mads Ostberg enters WRC2-Pro with Citroën

A few days ago, Mads ostberg confirmed that he would be at the start of the next Rally of Sweden (February 14-17), but the Norwegian had kept the mystery about the car that would be lined up for the Scandinavian classic.

Secret which will only have been kept until this Monday, the moment chosen by the former pilot M-Sport to formalize what is presented as a complete program in the WRC2-Pro category on behalf of Citroën Racing.

Ostberg thus continues its collaboration with the French manufacturer at the lower level of the WRC, after having contested a good part of the 2018 campaign, in the wake of the sidelining of Kris Meeke after the Rally of Portugal.

Ostberg, however, was unable to maintain himself at the highest level of world rallying in 2019, Citroën Racing choosing to enter only two C3 WRCs for Sébastien Ogier and Esapekka Lappi.

“I must admit that I was disappointed when it was clear to me that the WRC was not an option for me in 2019, says Ostberg. For me, rallying is more than a job, it's a passion, it's in my blood. It was never an option to give up on my dreams.

I shared a lot of good experiences with Citröen Racing during my three years as a factory driver. This is one of the main reasons for opting for this option.

It will be a challenge. I have no experience with the car and my first rally is coming soon. It will certainly be a busy time. In the beginning, the main focus will be on developing the car and hopefully achieving the C3 R5's first win in WRC2. With the expertise of Citröen Racing and my combined experience, it is possible. »

Only Sweden is currently confirmed in the Ostberg program, which will compete in a Citroën C3 R5 operated by DG Sport Compétition.
