Meeke will have to give up his place in Poland

Citroën Racing did not take long to confirm Andreas Mikkelsen for another race event. WRC. On the evening of the end of Rally of Sardinia where the Norwegian placed the first C3 WRC in 8th position, the Chevron brand announced the Norwegian's presence at the Polish Rally held from June 29 to July 2.

Andreas Mikkelsen will replace Kris Meeke who had another difficult weekend when he rolled over on the 5th special. The Briton couldn't even restart in Rally 2, the roll bar of his C3 WRC having been damaged.

“After a series of disappointing results, we asked Kris Meeke to step aside for a rally, explains Yves Matton, director of Citroën Racing. “Kris accepted this request in the interest of the team and we thank him for that. This will allow him to take a break and release the pressure before preparing for Rally Finland. He won this rally last year, after a perfect race, and we hope he will come back stronger. »

“At the same time, this change will allow us to continue our collaboration with Andreas. This first experience looked more like a test session than a competition. A second rally will allow him to build on his achievements to get closer to the leading pack. In addition, Poland is a terrain that he particularly likes, since he won there last year”, specifies Yves Matton.

Citroën Racing will also field Craig Breen and Stéphane Lefebvre who gave way to Andreas Mikkelsen at the Sardinia Rally.

“They both participated in the Polish Rally in 2016, with interesting performances. They will therefore have a great opportunity to shine. However, their priority objective will be to reach the finish without making any mistakes. warns Yves Matton.

Citroën Racing will complete a four-day session in Poland before competing in the next event. Kris Meeke will travel to participate in the reconnaissance.
