Meeke: a note error that costs Citroën dearly

Kris Meeke had returned to the height of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) in the fight for second place in the Tour de Corse which promised to liven up the last day, especially asOtt Tänak (Toyota) also returned to the game.

However, Citroën Racing will no longer be able to play at the forefront following the abandonment of the Northern Irishman, victim of a road trip on the last course of the day. Although he is quite accustomed to doing so, it was his co-driver Paul Nagle who was at the origin of the accident.

“We were fighting at the second and we were attacking hard, but unfortunately something happened that had never happened before between Paul and me. It got a little mixed up in the notes, but that's the rally. I repeat, this is the very first time this has happened, we have already gone off the road several times together where I was the one responsible and not him. We win together, we lose together, and I am convinced that we will bounce back quickly,” commented Kris Meeke.

“We are obviously disappointed following Kris and Paul's error because it has serious consequences and deprives us of a potential podium in a race where we had serious hopes,” added Pierre Budar, director of Citroën Racing.

The Reds team will probably only have the points from the Power Stage to console themselves, Sébastien Loeb having already restarted in Rally 2 this Saturday after going off the road on the second special.
