Meeke winner of the Legend Boucles de Bastogne
Laissé libre de toute occupation depuis la fin de son contrat avec Toyota in the World Rally Championship (WRC) at the end of 2019, Kris Meeke maintains his physical condition. The Irishman had agreed to participate in the Legend Boucles de Bastogne 2020 in Belgium; Good luck to him, because he won!
Engaged in a Ford Escort MkII, the former Citroën representative in the Mondial avoided pitfalls on narrow and slippery roads to succeed Thierry Neuville or Bryan Bouffier on the list.
“I discovered a concept of rally that I do not know, he explained. Driving such special stages with an old car fitted with stock tires, without being able to take notes beforehand, is quite a challenge.
Really not easy, sometimes tricky! But we had fun, and we are delighted to be on the top step of the podium in front of all these people. No doubt, the rally remains very popular in Belgium! »
His old rival and defending champion Mikko Hirvonen settled for sixth final position. The Finn didn't hold it against him and remade the world with Kris Meeke over a Belgian beer:
