Mexico: Ogier in the lead after the first day

Tonight, if we don't find three Citroën DS3s WRC in the leading trio, it is because Petter Solberg?s mount suffered from an engine problem in SS6. The Norwegian was able to restart but lost big in the process, since he is now in 13th place in the provisional general classification.

It is true that the Ford Fiesta RS WRCs, notably those of Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala, suffered from their position at the start. But the Citroën DS3 WRCs seem to be a step above their rival on Mexican soil since last night. At the end of the first stage, it is Sébastien Ogier who leads the debates, but he only has a 2??3 lead over his teammate. The two men went head to head throughout the day, Ogier winning five stages to Sébastien's four. Loeb.

In third place in the provisional general classification, we find the Ford Fiesta WRC of Mikko Hirvonen. But the winner of Rally of Sweden is 1:22 behind Ogier. Hirvonen leads his stablemate Jari-Matti Latvala by 1:31”4.

However, we must not believe that victory is over. Tomorrow, it will be the turn of the two Sébastiens from the Citroën Racing team to open the road. Enough to call into question the established order today? Furthermore, no one is safe from a setback. Mechanical breakdowns or punctures marked this first day. Petter Solberg, Jari-Matti Latvala, Matthew Wilson, Ken Block and even Federico Villagra can attest to this.
