Michelin extends for 3 years

Michelin announced that it has extended its partnership with the WRC for the next three seasons. The Clermont-based manufacturer equips most of the crews in the premier category of the World Rally Championship.

“We are honored to work so closely with the factory teams and the trust they have placed in us to help us design the best tires, commented Pascal Couasnon, the sporting director of Michelin. Our loyalty to the discipline is also due to the fact that it is directly linked to everyday life, since the WRC travels on roads used every day by motorists. »

Michelin will therefore actively work on the new generation of WRCs which will see the light of day in 2017 and which will offer increased performance.

“These more powerful cars which will debut in 2017 bring a new challenge for our engineers whose mission is to continue to design tires that are not only competitive but also safer and more versatile,” added Pascal Couasnon.

“I am delighted that Michelin is extending its commitment to the WRC for three more seasons, said Oliver Cresta, WRC management director. Michelin has been winning rallies since the WRC began and it remains on the top step of the podium 40 years later with the opportunity to add two more trophies to its record this weekend. »

Michelin could claim its 300th WRC victory and its 50th Drivers’ and Constructors’ title this weekend at the Rally of Catalonia.
