Mikkelsen wins shakedown in Mexico

Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen) set the benchmark time for the shakedown Rally of Mexico contested over a 5,5 km course. The Norwegian was the most diligent as he completed seven runs to finally set a time of 3'43"9.

The Scandinavian is 1”6 ahead of his friend Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), while Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen) took third place, one tenth behind the Belgian. Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen) completes the provisional top five ahead of Mads Ostberg (Ford), Mads Ostberg (Ford), Hayden Paddon (Hyundai), Benito Guerra (Ford) and Ott Tänak (Ford). Éric Camilli (Ford) set the tenth provisional time.

The Rally of Mexico starts badly for Dani Sordo (Hyundai) since the Spaniard broke an element of his steering. The Hispanic driver was able to return to the service park after repairs and set the fourth time.

The Rally of Mexico will begin with three super special stages contested from 3:10 a.m. French time (see itinerary).
