Mikkelsen holds off Ogier at RACC

By being closest to Sébastien Ogier in the longest special of the RACC, Kris Meeke (Citroën) climbed onto the provisional podium less than two seconds behind the Championship leader by resuming Ott Tänak and Mads Ostberg (M-Sport). The Norwegian lost three places on the last route, once again being slowed down by problems with dust in the passenger compartment and blocked heating.

Dani Sordo (Hyundai) was in better shape than during the first pass and maintained his sixth place ahead of his teammate Thierry Neuville.

Teemu Suninen (Ford) remains at the head of the WRC 2 with more than a minute ahead of Simone Tempestini (DS 3) and Jan Kopecky (Skoda). Yoann Bonato (DS 3) is still 12 minutes from the lead in the category after losing minutes by wrist following engine shutdowns this morning.

The crews will switch to asphalt starting this Saturday. The second stage, which will start at 8 a.m., will be the longest of the Rally de Catalunya with 121,86km timed.
