Mikkelsen under threat from Ogier and Neuville

After the second loop in the two major special stages of the day in Germany, Andreas Mikkelsen retained control of the rally, despite the return of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) and Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen).

With only 8,21 km on the program for the concluding super-special of this first stage, the possibilities of changing the ranking remained low, but Sébastien Ogier, author of the best time at the wheel of his Polo R, nevertheless managed to take the lead. best on Thierry Neuville's i20.

The Belgian conceded 3″4 on the Frenchman and therefore lost his second place by 1″6. Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen) therefore remains at the head of the event with 4″3 ahead of Ogier and 5″9 over Neuville. Consistent throughout the day, Dani Sordo (Hyundai) maintains his fourth place, and remains in ambush 12″7 behind the leader.

In the fight for fifth place, Ott Tänak (Ford) increased his lead over Stéphane Lefebvre (DS3) with a gap of 11″2 between the two drivers. Mads Ostberg (Ford) and Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) follow in the standings and remain the last classified in WRC.

In WRC-2, Armin Kremer, ninth overall, concluded the day as leader with a 28″ lead over Esapekka Lappi (Skoda). After numerous retirements in the category (Giordano, Maurin, Gilbert), Ghislain de Mevius (Skoda) places himself in third position, 4'1″08 behind the leader, and precedes Pierre-Louis Loubet, who hoists his DS7 R3 into fourth position. at 5’1″29. Pontus Tidemand, who does not score any points in WRC-6 in Germany, is however classified just behind Armin Kremer overall, 2″26 behind the German.

In Junior WRC, Simone Tempestini dominates the rally ahead of Martin Koci and Terry Folb.
