Mikko Hirvonen guest of Escapement

Tuesday, November 10, 9:30 a.m., Mikko Hirvonen arrives at the Hommell group premises to respond to Échappement's invitation. The entire editorial staff of the magazine is there to welcome him. Immediately at ease, the Ford driver appears as relaxed as he is talkative. “It’s the first time I’ve come to Paris,” he explains, “I discovered this city last night, it’s impressive! It is a place full of history, whereas we in Finland do not have such a past. We don?t even study History at school! »

Inevitably, Mikko Hirvonen returned to this 2009 season and more particularly the last rally of the year. ?It?s fantastic that a season ends like this? I think we all enjoyed this finish, we gave everything, and neither Seb nor I wanted to give up anything. Obviously, it didn't really end the way we would have liked, but it was a great Rally moment, I think. »

The Finn is already thinking about next season, with only one goal? the title ! “Two times Vice-Champion is enough. Next year we will do everything to take our revenge. And it's certain that this will still provide some great confrontations? »

His childhood, his first memories in Motor Sport, when he followed his father on the circuits of Rallycross, his rise in rallying, his healthy rivalry with Sébastien Loeb, the future of WRC? Mikko Hirvonen addressed all these subjects and many more, without concession and with complete sincerity. Find this exceptional interview with Mikko Hirvonen in the next issue of Échappement, on newsstands in early December.
