M-Sport was no longer able to achieve victory after the departure of Sébastien Ogier in 2019, but the British team was still able to defend its interests bravely thanks to Elfyn Evans and Teemu Suninen, Gus Greensmith and Pontus Tidemand coming to strengthen the structure in certain events.
Teemu Suninen was notably leader in Rally of Sweden before Elfyn Evans placed a Ford Fiesta for the first time this season WRC on the podium at the Rally Mexico. The Welshman narrowly missed out on victory at the Tour de Corse, having to settle for 3rd place following a puncture at the end of the event. The Finn added one more podium by taking 2nd place in Sardinia.
“I want to thank Malcolm (Wilson) for giving me the chance to lead this team this year, confides Richard Millener, Team Principal of M-Sport. It was something I dreamed of and I received this offer as a huge mark of respect. I hope to continue here next year! »
“We didn’t get the victory we were aiming for, but we came pretty close and the team can be proud of what they achieved. We exceeded a lot of expectations and made it clear that we weren't just there to make up the numbers., he says. We went for victory and won stages on all types of surfaces and gave a boost to the careers of many young drivers, which is what M-Sport has always tried to do. »
M-Sport is the last WRC team yet to have confirmed its drivers for 2020.
