Mini and Sordo impress in Alsace

For its fourth release in WRC (its second on an asphalt event), Mini struck a big blow by competing for victory at Sébastien Ogier until the arrival of Rally from France-Alsace. If the Spaniard?s qualities on asphalt are renowned, his teammate Kris Meeke was also at the forefront, competing for the last step of the podium with Petter Solberg (ultimately excluded) until the Briton gave up on an exit. of road.

If Dani Sordo has still not managed to win his first WRC rally, the Spaniard keeps smiling on the podium before competing in his national event in two weeks. “As you can imagine, I am really happy to finish in second position”, declares the former Citroën driver upon arrival. “This is an absolutely incredible result for the team. I don't think anyone expected this before the start of the rally, but we fought for victory and only lost 6?3 to Sébastien Ogier. »

The Mini driver always put pressure on the winner until a better choice of tires for the last stage favored the Frenchman. “We can only appreciate the race when we see the times achieved in the special stages”, adds Dani Sordo. “Before taking part in our first rally, we did not expect to have such a performance so soon. I am very happy to go to my national event in this situation. The car's set-up has been good here and I'm confident it will be the same in Spain. »
