Did Mini expect 2nd place?

Dani Sordo proved that Mini was not present in WRC to make up the figure. Comfortable on the asphalt, the Spaniard placed the Mini JCW WRC at the head of the event before being caught by Sébastien Ogier (Citroen). Sébastien's former teammate Loeb still remained in the fight for victory until the finish and the performances of Kris Meeke only strengthened the performances of the English cars.

David Richards does not seem to be particularly surprised by the performance achieved by Dani Sordo, even if the Mini JCW is only having one development season before fully starting next year. “Let’s put things into perspective, we have been working on this project for two years now”, underlines the director of Prodrive. “We indicated that it was a year of development but I prefer to make small promises and deliver unexpected performances. This is historically what we have done in everything we have undertaken. »

The director highlights the experience of his team, now serving English cars. The aggressive strategy put in place seems to have paid off. “It’s a very relaxed team”, adds David Richards. “She has already won in the past, who knows how to achieve it, who has confidence in herself, who believes in her products and in her drivers. We were the only team to only take one spare wheel, all the other crews had two. We know we benefited from that. We are here to give the best and that is what we will continue to do. »
