Back to the World Rally Championship calendar (WRC) Of the Rally of the Acropolis (Greece) in 2021 was not a flash in the pan. The legendary meeting, which was part of the first edition of the World Championship in 1973, once again offers 16 special stages from Thursday September 8 to Sunday September 11, 2022. With the presence of Sébastien Loeb ce mercredi, pas moins de 12 pilotes se battront pour la victoire en catégorie reine. De retour pour la première fois depuis le Kenya en juin dernier, Sébastien Loeb sera le leader d’une flotte de 5 Ford Puma de M-Sport avec entre autres Craig Breen, Gus Greensmith, Pierre-Louis Loubet and Jourdan Serderidis. Adrien Fourmaux was sidelined following his accident in Ypres.
At Toyota, pas de trace de Sébastien Ogier who will return to service in New Zealand (29 septembre au 2 octobre). Le Gazoo Racing débarquera en Grèce avec Kalle Rovanperä, Elfyn Evans, Takamoto Katsuta et le pigiste Esapekka Lappi, les habituels représentants ces derniers temps. Concernant Hyundai, la i20 des pigistes sera entre les mains de Dani Sordo et non pas d’Oliver Solberg, qui ne sera d’ailleurs même pas de la partie en WRC2. Les deux autres sont logiquement confiées à Thierry Neuville et Ott Tänak, the spearheads of the South Korean manufacturer.
