Neuville looks back on his road trip in Finland

Thierry Neuville a pu reprendre le volant de sa Hyundai i20 WRC during'a test session carried out a few days ago in Finland. The World Rally Championship has been at a standstill due to the coronavirus since mid-March with the premature end of the Rally from Mexico. This recovery was nevertheless disrupted by a trip off the road, fortunately without consequences for the crew.

“It was very nice to get back behind the wheel and rediscover that special feeling of driving a WRC, explained the vice-champion. These first rallies on the calendar seem like a long time ago and it was fantastic to get the adrenaline back on the roads of Finland. It didn't end the way we hoped. We hit a rock on a bend in the afternoon and the car rolled a few times. »

“We did well, but it was too complicated to repair the car and we had to stop testing prematurely, added the Belgian. The team returned to work after the lockdown period and we know we are ready to resume testing in the near future. We have remained in regular contact with the team over the last few months and we know that everyone is eager to get back to the championship. It was good to get back into that state of mind. »

Thierry Neuville will return to competition on the weekend of August 9 for the Dirtfish Rally in Estonia where he will be entered in an i20 WRC. On the other hand, the world championship will not resume for several months following the multiple cancellations of the rounds on the calendar.
