Nicolas Deschaux: “Readability over several years”

Are you satisfied with this 62nd edition?

Quite ! On a sporting level, she kept all her promises with an incredible Power Stage and an outcome that no one could have imagined. We must underline the performance of Evans who was able to get this first place, but who lost it in the end. It's the rally and that's why we love this discipline.

The course included many new features and was the setting for a race full of twists and turns…

We had chosen to renew 80% of the playing field. Dominique Serieys, my general manager, and his teams, tried to select roads with particular surface conditions so that things could happen all the time. By proposing a lot of innovations, it prevented preparation. This is how we create a little extra salt and densify the sporting signature of the Tour de Corse which is already very strong initially.

What can you tell us about the next edition?

For the moment, nothing has been decided. The only thing that was noted by my steering committee is that the Federation wants clarity over several years, both in terms of the commitments of the local authorities and of course the promoter. We will enter into discussions on these two points.

We must keep in mind that we have a new calendar process which has been put in place at the World Council level. Decisions will have to be made in the coming months with the sole desire, for the Federation, to work calmly over time and to have multi-year agreements.

Can we envisage a French round elsewhere than in Corsica? This could satisfy the promoter who is not always in favor of rallies on islands…

I consider that today this diagram is not in your vision. The promoter can have his own. I think that Corsica is an event that counts in the face of WRC, because of its sporting signature, its history, the enthusiasm of the population, quite simple things like its number of entrants, which is the highest in the championship. Do these elements match the wishes of the promoter, I'll let you ask him.
