Ott Tänak: “We don’t know where we stand”

While he is taking part in his first rally after his return to M-Sport, Ott Tänak remains very cautious about his feelings in the Puma and his objectives. Is the Estonian hiding his game or is he really waiting?

What does this inspire you? rally after your recognitions?

Even if we are not very high in the Alps, it is still Monte Carlo. If you remember, last year it also looked simple, but there is always something there somewhere. We'll see how it plays out, but it appears it's going to cool down and that could change things.

During the last three editions, you left with 0 points from Monaco. How important is it to you to break this streak?

It’s not just this rally that I want to enter. This is the case everywhere. However, it is difficult for me to say now what we can or cannot claim.

Because you haven’t driven the car enough?

We are unable to position ourselves in relation to the competition. Are we faster? Behind ? Am I confident? I still have trouble answering these questions. I really need to compete in a few stages to see what happens. Our tests took place on a 5 kilometer route on which we only made a few set up changes.

How do you envisage your start to the season where you will have to discover the Puma on the snow in Sweden and on the dirt in Mexico?

It is clear that we are going to line up on a few rallies in order to define the appropriate settings. It will take time, because you have to learn everything. I expect a difficult start to the championship.

Comment s’est effectué le retour chez M-Sport ?

The reception was very good and the team appears very motivated. There is no doubt that they will do everything to put us in the best conditions to give us the maximum chance.
