Ogier: “It’s barely believable”

Winner yesterday of Rally from Jordan, Sébastien Ogier still don't believe it. The Gapençais won by 0?2, a record. The last day was an ordeal for the Citroën driver. Despite a 31” lead before the start of the first special, he was unable to counter the incredible pace of Jari-Matti Latvala because of his opening position. His lead melted like snow in the sun and the penultimate special proved fatal to him: he lost the lead in the rally.

Finally, he tried everything in the last special, where the starting order was reversed. “Despite our incessant attack, Jari-Matti made life difficult for us today, he explained yesterday. The weather was incredible and we were almost helpless. Thanks to the reversed starting order in the last special, the sweep no longer had any influence and we were able to compete on equal terms. It was hard, but we never stopped believing in it and success was on our side. It's hard to believe to win the rally with such a small margin, but we score maximum points with the Power Stage bonus. This puts us back in the championship and bodes well for a great rest of the season! »

In addition to the 25 points for victory, he earns 3 bonus points from the PowerStage. As a result, Sébastien Ogier is back in third position in the world championship.
