Ogier: “We had some tough times”

Sébastien Ogier resisted pressure from Dani Sordo Rally of Catalonia for win the Spanish event for the third time by winning with 15 seconds in advance. Following the retirement of Andreas Mikkelsen in SS12, the Frenchman only had to reach the finish to celebrate his fourth consecutive title in WRC while Wales Rally GB and Rally Australia have yet to be contested.

“As usual, it’s a feeling of enormous joy to win a title, commented Sébastien Ogier on L’Équipe 21. The car was really fantastic this weekend. We try to avoid putting pressure on ourselves as much as possible, but we seek to secure the coronation as soon as possible. »

The Volkswagen driver could even have won the title earlier in the season if he was not slowed down by his often penalizing opening position on dirt surfaces.

“We've had some tough times this season with the start order on gravel, recalled the Frenchman. We were able to secure the points for the Championship. We must now secure the Manufacturers title. We will aim for victory at Wales Rally GB but it will be complicated in Australia. We will look to repeat this next year but everything will be reset with the new regulations. Roll on 2017! »
