Ogier untouchable in Corsica, Meeke and Latvala go off the road

Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) semble avoir la situation bien en main. Le quintuple champion du WRC finished the second stage maintaining a lead of more than 44 seconds over his closest pursuers. Regularly, the Frenchman seems to be heading towards a second victory in the Rally of 10 Virages after its success in 000.

The positions behind him are much more uncertain.

The Belgian, very frustrated at the end of the day and pessimistic about his chances of resisting at the front, did not really benefit from it since he was caught on the last course by Ott Tänak (Toyota) qui le devance d’un dixième après avoir signé le temps référence avec son coéquipier Esapekka Lappi sur le dernier parcours du jour. Le Finlandais menace également le premier pilote Hyundai puisqu’il évolue à une dizaine de secondes du tiercé de tête.

Dani Sordo (Hyundai) completes the new Top 5 while still being pursued by Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) who is only three seconds behind the Spaniard.

Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) is now in eighth place, the Norwegian having benefited from the retirement of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) in Cagnano – Pino – Canari (SS8). The Finn went off the road and hit a tree. This course also did not favor Bryan Bouffier (M-Sport), who was forced to dismount following an engine problem.

Jan Kopecky (Skoda) remains comfortably at the top of WRC 2 with more than three minutes ahead of Fabio Andolfi (Skoda). The Italian benefited from the gearbox problems of Ole Christian Veiby (Skoda) who finished the last special of the stage in third gear. The results remain provisional, Yoann Bonato (Citroën) having suffered GPS problems in SS8. Pierre-Louis Loubet (Hyundai) retired due to a mechanical problem.

The last stage of the Tour de Corse should begin at 9:23 a.m. with the Vero – Sarrola – Carcopino special. This will be the longest course of the event with 55,17km timed which will precede the Power Stage. The last day of the event will be followed live with our live text.
