Ogier at fault, Meeke remains in the lead

Despite his position as opener, Sébastien Ogier had largely limited the damage this Friday during the first real stage of the Rally from Finland. Before SS10, the three-time world champion was in third position at 32″4 by leader Kris Meeke (DS3) and remained in contention for victory, or a place on the podium.

The Frenchman, however, lost all hope of a good result on a regular basis, after an error in the tenth sector, second passage in Surkee. The Volkswagen Polo R got stuck in a ditch at a hairpin on the right. Despite the help of a few spectators, the driver of the car flanked by No. 1 lost more than sixteen minutes in this mishap.

After his scratch in this SS10, Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen) is now 18″6 behind leader Kris Meeke, second in the special, 1″6 behind his Finnish rival. Andreas Mikkelsen took the opportunity to get back on the podium, 40″8 behind Meeke. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) se hisse 4e à six dixièmes de Mikkelsen. Craig Breen completes the provisional top 5 before the last two SS of the day. Note the puncture of Ott Tänak (Ford) which loses 25″. Sébastien Ogier is now 16’53″4 behind the DS3 WRC of head.
