Ogier pinpoints the weak point of the Citroën C3 WRC

Sébastien Ogier took control of the championship at the end of the Rally from Chile where he fought tooth and nail against Sébastien Loeb (Hyundai) pour conserver sa deuxième place. Le sextuple champion WRC benefited from the abandonment of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) but could do nothing in the face of Ott Tänak (Toyota) qui s’est imposé tout en maîtrise.

Citroën has been fighting since the start of the season to improve the performance of the C3 WRC, which sometimes falls behind in terms of pure performance.

“With some great stages and many fans coming to support us, we had a lot of fun on our first visit to Chile. For us, however, after this second rally in a row in South America, the results remain essentially the same. We see a fairly clear trend confirmed, since we have difficulty being competitive when grip conditions are low, and therefore on the first laps. On the other hand, when the grip is better, we manage to be more in rhythm”, explained the Gapençais.

“At the end of the rally we had a great fight against Seb and Danos. They pushed hard and kept the pressure on until the end, but a final attack on Sunday allowed us to preserve second place overall and score four more points in the Power Stage. We therefore leave with big points and we regain the lead in the championship, which means that the balance sheet after 6 races is of course positive. However, we will have to work hard on the next tests to be even more competitive in the upcoming rallies”, said the Citroën driver.

Sébastien Ogier will have to open the road in the first stage of the Rally of Portugal (May 30-June 2), an event where he retired last year after leaving the road.
