CARhebdo learned that abandoning Sébastien Ogier au Rally of Finland is finally definitive. The pilot M-Sport, victim of an exit from the road in SS4 during the first stage, had obtained the right to restart in Rally 2 only on the last day. This withdrawal is due to a concussion suffered by co-driver Julien Ingrassia following the impact.
Sébastien Ogier will therefore not be able to win bonus points in the Power Stage. The four-time world champion could still retain the lead in the Championship, his direct rival Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) occupying only 6th place with which he would gain 8 points and come within 3 points of the Frenchman.
The Belgian could nevertheless try to aim for 5 bonus points in the Power Stage. A second place in the final stage of the Rally Finland would be enough for him to take the lead in the Championship if he maintains 6th place in the general classification of the event.
