Ogier new leader in Portugal

Sébastien Ogier (Ford) took the lead Rally of Portugal at the end of SS12 in Amarante where his teammate Ott Tänak made a mistake. The Estonian had a lead of more than 6 seconds over the four-time world champion before hitting an embankment and damaging his suspension. The former leader fell to 5th place after losing more than a minute in the incident.

The Hyundai de Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo now complete the provisional podium, but the Belgian in 2nd place is almost 20 seconds behind Sébastien Ogier and remains under threat from his Spanish teammate who is 5”5 behind the first i20 WRC.

Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) reste 8e.

Mads Ostberg (Ford) and Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) completed the top ten, the Finn having overtaken his former teammate Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda) by half a second. The Norwegian remains solid leader of WRC 2 with more than a minute ahead of Pontus Tidemand (Skoda) and Teemu Suninen (Ford) grouped together in a handful of seconds. Quentin Gilbert (Ford) remains 4th in the category, more than 4 minutes from the provisional podium. Pierre-Louis Loubet (Ford) completed the top five before hitting a cow and damaging his Fiesta R5.

The second passage of the second stage will be contested from 16:08 p.m. (Paris time).
