Ogier: “No margin for error in Sweden”

After his victory at Rally Monte-Carlo for its debut with M-Sport on the Ford Fiesta WRC, Sébastien Ogier could drive the point home by signing a new success next week in Sweden. The four-time world champion has already won this snow event three times, his first victory (with Volkswagen Motorsport) dating back to 2013, and remains undefeated since 2015.

“We had a dream start to the season at Monte-Carlo, but that should not distract us. It's an event that I really enjoy. Incredible speeds are reached on snow and ice and this will increase further with the new cars. This means that we will have no margin for error and will have to be very precise. We are usually only a few seconds apart and every second will therefore have real importance”, commented the Frenchman.

Sébastien Ogier took advantage of the misfortunes of Thierry Neuville in Monte-Carlo to position himself at the top of the Championship with 7 points ahead of his closest rival, his former teammate at Volkswagen Jari-Matti Latvala.

“If we get another podium next week it would be a fantastic start to the season and would exceed all our expectations at this stage of the season. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be confident, but it still requires a lot of work behind the scenes.. We have yet to see the true potential of each and I expect a close fight in Sweden”, underlined Sébastien Ogier.

M-Sport occupies first place in the Manufacturers' Championship, 16 points ahead of the Toyota Gazoo Racing, of 20 units on Hyundai Motorsport and 30 on Citroën Racing.
