Ogier: “More difficult than in Türkiye”

Sébastien Ogier, author of a good start to the season in WRC, will continue his learning on the roads of New Zealand. The Citroën Junior Team driver was initially not expected to take part but an additional budget will allow the Frenchman to compete with Sébastien Loeb, Petter Solberg and Mikko Hirvonen. But, inexperienced in this field, he knows that he will not have the advantage against the competition.

« I expect a more difficult test than in Turkey because I will discover a rally that other pilots already know, Ogier explains. But I can't wait to get to the start because the roads in New Zealand are among the most beautiful in the World Championship. I think it's a profile that I will appreciate. This will be an excellent opportunity to drive the Citroën C4 WRC on very fast and rolling stages. »

The Frenchman will therefore be an additional asset in Citroën's game, even if the 2008 Junior World Champion will be learning on these roads. Having shown his ability to drive fast and compete with the best, Sébastien Ogier knows that experience is crucial in the WRC. It is thanks to the experience acquired in previous years that the Gapençais believes he can be competitive this season.

« Having competed in a full season in the World Rally Championship with the Citroën C4 WRC is a considerable asset, he confirms. Rallying is a discipline that requires great experience to be able to fight at the front. All the special stages that we were able to compete in with the C4 WRC on all types of terrain allow us today to drive at a higher pace. We may be taking more risks but without losing our serenity. There is still much to learn but our results show that we are on the right track. »
