Ogier takes the lead at shakedown

Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen) immediately set the best time in the shakedown of the Tour de Corse. The three-time world champion, who is able to win a fourth coronation at the end of the Rally of the 10 Virages, completed the 000km course in 5,4’3”51 during the third and final pass. This special stage has never before been used by rallies. It offers wide, winding roads and a narrower section towards the end.

The national driver of the event preceded his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala by eight tenths who finished as his closest opponent, while the Finn completed two more passes.

Kris Meeke (Citroën) a complété le tiercé de tête en pointant déjà à plus d’une seconde de la référence. Le Britannique s’est classé devant les pilotes Hyundai Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo, while Craig Breen (Citroën) finished just outside the top five, ahead of Hayden Paddon (Hyundai).

Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen) adopted a cautious pace, settling for eighth fastest time ahead Ott Tänak (Ford) and Éric Camilli (Ford) who preceded his teammate Mads Ostberg.

Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia R5) set the best time of the WRC 2 with a time of 4’03”1. Elfyn Evans (Fiesta R5) followed more than a second behind.

The start of the Tour de Corse will be this Friday, September 30 at 8:58 a.m. with the 49,7km Acqua Doria – Albitreaccia special. The event will be followed live with our live text.
