Sébastien Ogier took the lead of the Rally de Catalunya from Dani Sordo after achieving a series of scratches on the second pass of the second stage.

Ogier takes the lead of the RACC against Sordo

Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen) a réussi son attaque sur Dani Sordo (Hyundai) To Rally of Catalonia. By achieving three consecutive scratches in the second passage of the second stage, the three-time world champion concluded the day with a lead of 5”8 over the national driver of the event.

Following the definitive abandonment of Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen), the Championship leader is getting closer to a fourth coronation since Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), currently third with 16 seconds ahead of his teammate Hayden Paddon and 1'20 behind the new leader, must win the Power Stage to push back the Frenchman's title. The Hyundai drivers were notably slowed down by significant understeer.

Despite a high-speed spin in SS12, Kris Meeke (Citroën) regained a clear lead over Mads Ostberg (Ford) and completed the top five on the evening of the second day ahead of the Norwegian. Ott Tänak (Ford) is in seventh place ahead of Kevin Abbring (Hyundai) who gained two places taking advantage of the retirement of Eric Camilli (Ford), forced to throw in the towel at the end of SS12 due to a stuck gearbox.

Despite a puncture which caused him to lose around 20 seconds, Jan Kopecky (Skoa Fabia R5) remains in the lead of the WRC 2 with a lead of 14 seconds over Pontus Tidemand (Fabia R5).

The final stage of the Rally de Catalunya will consist of 62,8km timed spread over two special stages covered twice. The day will begin at 7:24 a.m. with the 19,3km Pratdip.
