Ogier six-time winner in Mexico

Sébastien Ogier would have liked other circumstances to celebrate his 6th victory at the Rally from Mexico, where he matches the performance of Sébastien Loeb. The cancellation of the last step during midday the match was over, the Gapençais having already built too large a lead. He won his first victory with Toyota and allows the Japanese manufacturer to add this round to its record and also offers its first success since the 2019 Rally of Turkey.

At the end of the 21 special stages contested out of the 24 on the programme, Sébastien Ogier won with almost 28 seconds ahead of Ott Tänak (Hyundai) who took over Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) and saves Hyundai's weekend after the retirements of Thierry Neuville (started again in Rally2) and Dani Sordo despite a broken suspension during the first stage. Teemu Suninen completes the podium, around ten seconds behind the Estonian.

Elfyn Evans (Toyota) lost the championship lead to his teammate, winner of the weekend, finishing in 4th place ahead of Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota). Pontus Tidemand (Skoda) takes victory in WRC 2 by taking 6th place in the general classification with a large lead over Nikolay Gryazin (Hyundai).

Sébastien Ogier leaves Rally Mexico with an 8-point lead over Elfyn Evans, while Thierry Neuville follows 20 points behind the Frenchman. The next round in Argentina scheduled for the weekend of April 26 has been postponed due to the coronavirus.
