If some thought that the Rally of Central Europe would, or could, be the last appearance of Sébastien Ogier this season, rest assured that will not be the case. Indeed, the name of the Tricolore figures well among the entrants for the Rally of Japan, scene of the final round of the 2023 campaign of WRC (November 16-19). No real surprise when we know the importance it has among Toyota on these lands.
For this last annual general representation, 36 cars are expected, all categories combined. In Rally1, the field only consists of 9 entries with the appearance, as announced last Friday, ofAdrien fourmaux, replacing Pierre-Louis Loubet at M-Sport. With Sébastien Ogier, he will be the only other representative of France on site. At the house of Hyundai, the third i20 will be entrusted to Dani Sordo.
Among the little “surprises” on this entry list, we once again find the name of Heikki Kovalainen. Having left to live in Japan after his European career, the Finn has recently converted to rallying. Last year he even took part in the Japanese WRC2 event at the wheel of a Skoda Fabia. This year, he is trying his luck again, still with the same car.
Expected to end the season at the end of the Central European Rally next weekend, Andreas Mikkelsen, who is seeking a new crown in WRC2, will finally be there.
