Ogier: “A positive weekend for the championship”

Fourth at the finish rally from Estonia, Sebastien Ogier was never really able to defend his chances. The Frenchman opened the road all day on Friday, which is detrimental on a dirt surface like that in Estonia. However, he increased his advantage in the drivers' standings, ahead of his teammate and runner-up Elfyn Evans.

“This weekend was very positive for the championship, admits Ogier. Starting first on this route, we knew it was going to be difficult. We were solid on Friday but it was impossible to achieve a better result. I am very happy for Kalle Rovanperä for her first victory. »

Sebastien Ogier bet everything on the Power Stage on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the terrain deteriorated very quickly after the WRC2 race.

“On Sunday, we were fully focused on the Power Stage, confesses the Frenchman. The conditions ended up being horrible. There were big ruts and it was not possible to push hard. You just had to survive and try to finish. Despite everything, we managed to get a few points so that’s already a given.”

Sebastien Ogier now has a 37 pt lead in the drivers' championship. With 5 rallies to go before the end of the season, he is the favorite to be his own successor in what will certainly be his last full-time season.
