Citroën could well line up a 3rd C3 WRC au Rally of Australia, final of the 2019 WRC season played on the weekend of November 17. The Chevron brand plans to hire Mads Ostberg, who defended its interests in WRC 2 Pro on the R5 model, alongside Sébastien Ogier and Esapekka Lappi.
“I am really happy to have this opportunity offered by Citroën and Pierre (Budar), that they trust Torsein Eriksen (the co-driver) and me with such an important task. There are still unknown elements, but we will do everything possible to achieve a good result for Sébastien Ogier and the team.”, commented the Norwegian.
I'm sooooo happy to get this opportunity from @CitroenRacing & Pierre, that they trust me & @TorsteinEriksen in such an important task. There's still a lot of ifs and buts, however we will do everything in our power to secure a good result for @SebOgier & the team #NeverGiveUp https://t.co/kfpzsxWqci

The Reds have a specific goal in mind by considering fielding three cars while they have operated with two crews for the rest of the season.
“We have worked as hard as possible to prepare for Spain and we hope to achieve a strong result with both our crews. If we succeed, we should remain in the match for the world titles among drivers and co-drivers with Sébastien and Julien. If this is the case we will enter a third car for Mads in Australia to try and take points from their rivals.”, explained the director of Citroën Racing Pierre Budar on wrc.com.
“Mads finished third last year (with Citroën) and he will have an excellent position on very slippery roads on Friday. He is certainly able to bring a lot to our collective effort.”, specified the leader of the French team.
On the other hand, Mads Ostberg should not be on the trip if Ott Tänak manages to secure the title at the Rally de Catalunya which will be run on the weekend of October 27. The pilot Toyota has a 28-point lead over Sébastien Ogier with two races remaining in the season.
