Ostberg confirmed with Citroën for the rest of the season

Citroën Racing confirmed Mads Ostberg on the second C3 WRC for the rest of the season. The Norwegian will replace Kris Meeke fired last May after leaving the road Rally of Portugal and became an official driver again for the Chevrons brand after his time with the Reds in 2014 and 2015.

Mads Ostberg will therefore be present at the Rally of Finland (July 26-29), Germany (August 16-19), Turkey (September 13-16), Wales Rally GB (October 4-7) and the Rally of Australia (November 15-18).

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue the adventure with Citroën Racing!, welcomes Mads Ostberg. It was a real pleasure to reunite with the team for these first three rallies, after a first collaboration a few years ago now. I am honored by the trust placed by the brand and by Pierre (Budar, the director of Citroën Racing), and I will do everything to honor it in the best possible way in the next meetings, especially since I am starting to know the C3 WRC better now, and what's happening with Finland, my favorite weekend of the season! I am convinced that we have all the assets to do well in these five new participations to come. »

Mads Ostberg will therefore soon return to the Rallye des 1000 Lacs, a round where he reached the last step of the podium twice in 2013 and 2015.

“We are now in the reconstruction phase, with 2019 already in the back of our minds, but before that, we must finish this season as best as possible, adds Pierre Budar. However, Mads, through his experience of the championship rounds and the C3 WRC, can allow us to move forward with peace of mind. He is regular, as evidenced by the collection of places of honor which he can claim in almost all events. And he has successfully rehabilitated himself to the team. »

Mads Ostberg took sixth place in Sweden and Portugal before claiming fifth position in Sardinia.
