Ostberg and Camilli want to come back strong

With only a sixth place achieved by Mads Ostberg and an exit from the road for Éric Camilli in the Rally from Germany, M-Sport hopes to obtain better results at the Tour de Corse contested next week.

The British team took advantage of the break following the cancellation of Rally China to prepare for the Rally of 10 Bends by sending Mads Ostberg to compete in Rally Niedersachsen in Germany in a Ford Fiesta R000 to gain more experience on the asphalt.

“It’s pretty incredible to think that I’m going to make my 100th start in WRC. Looking back a few years and seeing how far I’ve come, I think I can be proud of what I’ve accomplished.”, commented the Norwegian in seventh place in the Championship.

“Corsica is always a challenge and I’m sure it will be the same this year. We did not have the benefit of testing in preparation for the event, but my commitment to Rally Niedersachsen was very useful, confided the Scandinavian. The goal was to make me progress on the asphalt and I think we achieved that. We had teams in the stages watching our corner entries and exits and I hope we can take advantage of everything we learned in Corsica. »

His teammate Éric Camilli can hope for a good result since he has already taken fourth place in the 2014 edition which counted for theERC and that he took the podium in the WRC 2 category last year in a Fiesta R5.

“It’s my national event and I have quite a bit of experience there, admitted the French pilot. My father is from Ajaccio and it will be a special meeting for me because I will have a lot of friends and family who will come to see me. »

“It’s not an easy rally but we’ve done very well in the past, added Éric Camilli, 11th in the Championship. I raced for the first time in 2014 and took 4th place. It will be difficult to reproduce this result in the WRC, but you never know in Corsica. The stages are very long with many tight and winding turns. You have to get good grades and stay focused from start to finish. »

“Germany was a disappointment for us, but that’s in the past. We feel well prepared and in good shape after this unexpected break. We are also determined to achieve a good result on French territory. Our goal will be to achieve consistent performance on these beautiful roads, but I plan to set a good pace if I still feel good behind the wheel”, concluded Éric Camilli.

M-Sport occupies third place in the Manufacturers' Championship, 79 points behind Hyundai Motorsport at four events at the end of the season.
