Ott Tänak sees victory in Germany

The second pass in the specials this Saturday did not upset the hierarchy at the Rally from Germany, with Ott Tänak (Ford) still solid leader of the event. The Estonian has a comfortable margin before the final stage tomorrow, with a 21″ lead over Andreas Mikkelsen (Citroën), after controlling his rivals in the afternoon.

The Norwegian remains under threat of Sébastien Ogier (Ford), in third position 8″2 behind Mikkelsen, and who admitted not wanting to take too many risks “for three points” after the retirement of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) this morning.

Sordo s’illustre, les Toyota suffer

Elfyn Evans (Ford) climbed into fourth position this Saturday evening, after regaining the advantage over Juho Hänninen (Toyota), victim of a shock absorber problem since the second pass through Panzerplatte. The Toyota clan was not spared today, as Jari-Matti Latvala and Esapekka Lappi both suffered punctures in Panzerplatte 2 and lost a lot of time.

Latvala remains seventh behind Craig Breen (Citroën) et précède Hayden Paddon (Hyundai). Kris Meeke (Citroën) was once again forced to retire after SS14, following irreparable technical problems with his C3 WRC.

Long eliminated from the race for victory, Dani Sordo (Hyundai) stood out by achieving a hat-trick in the second pass of the Panzerplatte ES at the start of the afternoon. In the WRC Trophy, Jean-Michel Raoux (Citroën DS3) still leads ahead of Jourdan Serderidis (Citroën DS3).

In WRC-2, Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia R5) seemed well on his way to victory but a puncture cut the Czech driver's momentum in Panzerplatte 2. The latter let Eric Camilli (Ford Fiesta R5 take the lead in the category, with a lead of 1'12"2 over Kopecky before the final stage. Pontus Tidemand (Skoda Fabia R5) follows in third position, 11"2 behind Kopecky. In Junior WRC, Nicolas Ciamin, in the lead this morning, left his leadership position to Julius Tannert, after a suspension problem in Panzerplatte 1.

The final stage of the Rally Germany will begin tomorrow at 7:25 a.m., and can be followed live and in full on our website.
