Asphalt specialist, Pepe Lopez broke the screen on the Rally Monte-Carlo 2024. The Spanish driver, associated with David Vázquez, led the WRC2 category for a long time at the wheel of the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2. Although he was overtaken at the last minute by Frenchman Yohan Rossel in the final Col de Turini special, the 28-year-old driver has a positive assessment of this performance and is already looking ahead to a full season in WRC2.

« In Monte-Carlo, we had a new car, a new team and a new co-driver,” did he declare. “However, the pace was there and we set excellent times, so I think it's really interesting for the future. This year we will compete in a full WRC2 campaign as well as the Spanish Championship. At the moment we are planning to do Croatia, Portugal, Sardinia, then Finland, Chile and Central Europe. »

Pepe López also became the first recipient of the WRC2 Most Stage Wins Trophy, awarded for being the fastest on eight of the seventeen stages on the route.

“I think it’s something extremely positive for us”, added Pepe López. “We can be really proud of that. When you play your first season in this type of championship, you want to send this kind of message. Of course, we didn't win, but we at least showed our speed. »
