Petter Solberg is back

It had been a long time since Petter Solberg had been to such a party. The Norwegian, second in the Mexico rally last Sunday, was satisfied with this result, even if he could have played it more tactically on Friday.

Petter Solberg is back

The 2003 world champion proved last weekend, if it was still necessary, that he had lost none of his immense talent. Flamboyant during the first day, he then fought for seconds with the French hopeful Sébastien Ogier which he finally put on the wire. On arrival, the Norwegian declared to the site wrc.com that he regretted a little not having slowed down the pace on Friday afternoon in order to benefit from a more favorable position at the start on Saturday. But the former Subaru driver is aware of the good performance achieved by his team.

“We don't have to think about it anymore, it doesn't matter because we are second and I am very happy with this result, says Solberg about possible regrets. Certainly, we could have played the game of strategy. But, within the team, we decided that it was more important for us to show that we were in control of a rally. We are still looking for sponsors for this season, and being in front of everyone allowed us to send a strong message. I had to learn to drive fast with this car in difficult conditions anyway. »

Let it be said, Petter Solberg is back at the forefront. And no offense to his opponents, he could well get involved in the fight for victory during the next rallies
