Petter Solberg: “I’ve never seen that”

After being downgraded to Rally of France-Alsace for a non-compliant weight of his DS3 WRC, Petter Solberg sees his ordeal continue in Catalonia. The Norwegian tore off the front left wheel of his car when he hit an underground pipe in a bend on the first special stage of the event. The 2003 world champion, terribly disappointed by this premature retirement, highlights the lack of visibility with the dust raised.

“It was incredibly dusty, I’ve never seen that”, admits Petter Solberg on wrc.com. “I couldn't see absolutely anything and it was getting worse and worse for the competitors behind. Ken Block and Ott Tanak hit the same pipe as me. Fortunately, spectators placed a stone in front to warn the other drivers, otherwise there would have been at least 30 retirements. I am very disappointed because all my sponsors were present this weekend. Maybe I'll put all my budget into the Rally Great Britain, I don't know yet what I'll do tomorrow. »
