For his return to WRC after long months of absence, Pierre-Louis Loubet seems to be smiling again. Behind the wheel of the Ford Puma M-Sport, the Corsican is once again enjoying driving in the World Rally Championship after a 2021 season that was complicated to say the least.
After three rallies out of the seven he has to take part in this year, Pierre-Louis Loubet is preparing to take his first break since he will not go to Kenya to take part in the Safari (June 23 to 26). The time for the Habs to take stock of its first 3 rounds a few days after its 4e place in Sardinia, his best career result.
« To be honest, I already feel very happy and lucky to have seven WRC rallies this year, recently confided Pierre-Louis Loubet after finishing 2021 on the sidelines. A lot of people doubted me after last year. It was a strange season last year and I think it was impossible to do anything with the equipment at my disposal (Hyundai i20 from the private 2C Competition team).
Now I think people are starting to believe in me. Honestly, I wasn't at my best in Sardinia. Italy was not a rally where you had to be at full strength. If you do that, I don't think the car would hold. The important thing was to find a good rhythm and I knew how to do it. It might have been possible to score a first podium if Dani (Sordo) had a problem or if (Otta) Thank you wasn't so lucky with the stages canceled on Friday. I could have been in the top three, but this result is still good to take. I don't really set a goal at the moment. I simply continue to drive as I do to learn and to continue to enjoy."
While he will attend the Safari from afar, Pierre-Louis Loubet will return to action for the Estonian Rally (July 14 to 17) where he will aim for a podium after his beautiful 4e place in Sardinia.
