Portugal – Sébastien Loeb: “The sensations were good”

He himself was surprised to find himself at the top of the Rally Portugal standings after the Friday morning loop. Sebastian Loeb (M-Sport Ford) ne compte qu’une poignée de dixièmes de seconde de marge sur son plus proche poursuivant Elfyn Evans (Toyota) mais le vétéran de 48 ans est inusable !

« We thought it was going to be difficult starting fourth this morning, but finally we are leading the rally this afternoon, declared the nine-time world champion WRC. Certainly we had two hard tires on the front, I think that helped us a little. But the sensations were good, I was able to attack. I didn't make a mistake.

It took me a little while to find my rhythm. The dust in the car hampered me a bit on SS2 but I was able to set a decent time. Isabelle had not been able to close her door correctly, that disturbed me, I missed the start by forgetting to engage the boost of the hybrid system. So, I started without power, I think I lost a good two seconds.

Driving the Rally1 hybrids on gravel is pleasant. It's quite similar to the old WRCs. The gear ratios are a little longer because there are only five gears. »

Passionate about the history of motorsport across all disciplines, I learned to read thanks to AUTOhebdo. At least that's what my parents tell everyone when they see my name inside!
