Martin Prokop does not give up WRC. The private pilot wanted to clarify his projects after having threatened to leave the discipline following his five-minute penalty received last week at Rally from Sardinia for breaking the transmission seal of his Ford Fiesta RS WRC before the start of the event.
“Like every rally, Sardinia cost us a lot of energy, time and money. We did the whole race with a feeling of injustice and disappointment following a very heavy, unfounded penalty,” comments Martin Prokop.
“But rallying is part of my life, and despite the fact that we are preparing for the Dakar, rallying remains the priority discipline. I am a rally driver in my body and in my soul. When I make my last start in the WRC, I will do it in style, with my head held high and happy. I won't be upset with my head full of ideas other than rallying. I will come back to the WRC, that's what I promised myself and that's what I promised my team and especially my supporters. It might even be this year, who knows? »
“We are going to fight in principle against the FIA for the cancellation of this five-minute penalty”, concluded the private driver who finished just outside the top ten of the Sardinia Rally.
