What will be the implications of Ott Tänak's return to Hyundai?

It was no great surprise that the Estonian's return was approved. Between a driver looking for a steering wheel to aim for the title and a team wishing to strengthen its squad, the (re)marriage was inevitable. The movement of this centerpiece of transfers will have repercussions on the WRC landscape and at M-Sport. As for the progress of this new union, the management qualities of Cyril Abiteboul will be scrutinized.

What will be the implications of Ott Tänak's return to Hyundai?

Perhaps by rediscovering the colors he still wore in 2022, Ott Tänak will learn to smile again? (Photo Nikos Katikis: DPPI)

The fool's game ended three days after the rally from Chile. In Concepción, everyone knew, but no one wanted to completely spill the beans. It's now official. Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja will be back at Hyundai next year. Not very inspired in his career choices (he had left Toyota for Hyundai in 2019 when he had just won the Drivers' title, Editor's note), the almost 36-year-old Baltic (he will be on October 15) will never admit that he made a mistake by terminating his contract with Hyundai in October 2021 to join M-Sport. He can always argue that today he has more success than Thierry Neuville and that his former employer has not been very brilliant during the 11 rounds already contested… and he would not be wrong. NOT
