Quesnel: France loves the automobile

With an estimated 300 spectators on the Rally of France ? Alsace, this French round of the World Rally Championship proved to be a real popular success. After 36 editions of the Tour de Corse in WRC, it is Alsace which made it possible to find the elite of the World Rally in France, in special stages accessible to the greatest number of people.

For Olivier Quesnel, director of Citroën Racing, this event is a great success. “In the special stages, there were a crazy crowd. We were even quite late on Friday because of that. Despite these delays, I find it great that there is so much audience,” he confided to France Bleu Alsace.

« It?s all the more brilliant since we are supposedly a country that doesn?t like cars, continues the one who is also director of Peugeot Sport. In fact, we realize that this is completely false. This is very, very good news. The French are interested in sport and automobiles. And, for the rally, what happened in Alsace is magnificent. I hope it will be the revival of the World Rally Championship. »

If the expectation is still high regarding the return of a Grand Prix of F1 in France, the success of the Rallye de France? Alsace seems to have ensured, for the coming years, the presence of the World Rally elite on Sébastien's land. Loeb. Local authorities, certainly encouraged by this positive outcome, could decide to invest in the long term so that Alsace becomes the annual host of the Rallye de France.
