Räikkönen close to the WRC

Kimi Räikkönen is, “with a few details”, on the verge of committing to Rally to compete in the thirteen rounds of the next World Rally Championship (WRC). According to the official website of the discipline, only a few details need to be resolved so that the Finn can be officially approved to drive a Citroën C4 WRC in 2010. As we told you last Friday, Red Bull would be Iceman?s main partner to support this operation, the energy drink brand also being a sponsor of the Chevron brand.

Kimi Räikkönen, ousted from Ferrari, had announced that his only option to stay in Formula 1 was to join McLaren. This trail having closed following the recruitment of Jenson Button, defector from Mercedes GP (ex-Brawn GP), the Finn announced his withdrawal from F1 for the 2010 season. But David Robertson, his agent, then affirmed that, if a proposal came from Mercedes GP, it would be studied. From then on, the arrival of Kimi Räikkönen in the WRC was more hypothetical. At present, nothing is certain yet, but the Rally hypothesis seems the most likely for Iceman.
