Rallye de France, “selective course”

Quentin Potherat, what did you feel when the Rally of France ? Rallye d?Alsace was presented?
We inevitably feel nervous, before knowing how it will be received, whether by the pilots or by the communities. But there is also pride because it is the fruit of a long work, started several months ago. That doesn't mean we've arrived, it's the start of the great adventure. Now, we must ensure that we translate into reality what we presented on paper, put in place the necessary infrastructure so that we are at the expected level.

What was your main concern in completing this journey?
The guideline in our choice of the course was to achieve a selective course in terms of sport, and which would also be a good vector of representation for Alsace, in order to reflect the richness and diversity of the Alsatian terrain. We also looked at the security aspect, in order to be able to welcome spectators in good conditions.

Was the political will decisive in allowing the establishment of this Rallye de France? Alsace Rally?
The support of communities, whether the Alsace region, the departments of Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin, the urban community of Strasbourg, the city of Mulhouse and the city of Haguenau, naturally tilted the balance in favor of Alsatian file. Of course, we had to respect this support by offering a rally that is balanced, which passes through many of these cities, which highlights the territory of these communities.

What is the advantage of the Rallye de France among the World Championship events?
The big strong point of our Rally is its route, its complexity, its variety, its relief, its differences in surface. It is relatively compact, while remaining within the standard of what is done in the World Championship. It will represent a real challenge for the drivers. Our team was led by Jacky Jung (former president of the Sports Association of the Automobile Club of Alsace and the Rhine and coordinator of Alsace's candidacy for the organization of the Rallye de France, editor's note) and? is based on his experience, on his knowledge.

What was the first feedback following the presentation of the course?
All the comments are enthusiastic. All those involved, from personalities from the world of motorsport to elected officials from local authorities, are delighted. The feedback is good, it must now materialize on the ground with a good event.
